Safeguarding and Child Protection Network
Purpose
The network will ensure effective arrangements to safeguard and promote the welfare of children (Section 175 of the Education Act 2002 – requirement for schools – including nurseries, early years, and further education providers).
In schools, we will create environments where children feel safe to learn, play, and grow. Children will feel comfortable in their surroundings and know that they can approach adults with any problems – many children who suffer from abuse are too scared to speak out or may perceive their mistreatment as ‘normal’. Therefore, we will seek to identify any children who are at risk of harm, and ensure all staff across the Trust know the characteristics of abuse or neglect – so that we can take positive action.
Statutory safeguarding guidance for schools is set out in Keeping Children Safe in Education, and all staff in our settings will be aware of these expectations.
